The Farmbag Fundraiser Program
The idea is simple - an innovative program providing a way to buy local fruits and vegetables over the winter months, while directly supporting their local community.
Customers sign up in advance between August 25th and Sept 30th to collect 3 monthly bags of fresh organic local produce from a designated community location or school once a month in October, November and December. The sale of each bag nets a $10 profit for the fundraising body, or $30 profit per customer for the season.
Farmers who supply to the program benefit from advance and flexible sales in addition to receiving a higher than average return for their produce. The 3 month season, which runs Oct through December each year, and sources only certified organic produce from local growers in the Okanagan-Similkameen region”.
What is in my Farm Bag?
Farm Bags contain roughly 10 types of Certified Local and Organic Fruit and Veggies, and weigh approximately 25lbs and costs $40 per bag. Retail value of the bags is approximately $50 or more. Our intention is to give you an opportunity to sample what local fresh organic products are available locally, and where you can find them in town. Each month, a newsletter
is included with your Farm Bag that explains what is in your bag, recipes for using the produce and other useful information.
Over the season you can expect to receive carrots, potatoes, apples, plums, leeks, garlic, squash, beets, pears, parsnips and other delicious goodies.
How it works
Each fundraising group or school acts as a distribution centre. Farm Bags are purchased in advance, by visiting this website.
1. Choose which group or school you will collect from (they receive a percentage of each sale).
2. Farm Bag delivery days occur once a month. You will receive a reminder before each pick up day. Visit your pick up location to collect your produce and enjoy!
Currently the Farm Bag Fundraiser model is offered in South & Central Okanagan regions. Since launch, over $20,000 have been raised for community groups and schools and over 70,000 pounds of produce bought from local farmers to be delivered to the family tables of over 800 customers.

Sign Up Deadlines and Delivery Dates
Season opens August 25th each year, and clients can sign up until September 30th. Delivery dates vary depending on the group you choose, and are listed on the page for signup. Deliveries are 1 time per month, beginning in October and running through December. The website is only capable of signing up full season subscriptions, and payment is only available through Pay Pal.
Each group requires a minimum of 20 Farm Bag clients or sales to participate, so help signup your friends and family to make it possible!
