Farm Bag Fundraiser - FAQ

What is in a typical Farm Bag?

Each bag will have 7-10 different produce types. Here's a list of likely candidates over the season: Beets, Apples, Potatoes, Pears, Carrots, Leek, Onions, Garlic, Kale, Parsnips, Sunchokes, Squash, Cabbage, Zucchini, etc.

Where and When do I pickup my Farm Bag?

When you sign up for the program, you will select a group from your community to choose as your pickup group. Each group on the list indicates the day for delivery each month, and a list of dates for each pickup for each month will be emailed to you by your coordinator before October. Dates of pickup are typically the first or second week of the month.

I have a question about my Farm Bag order - who do I speak to?

Each group has a coordinator that can help to answer your questions. The group coordinator will contact you near the end of September with their email contact, so that you can be in touch with them. If a coordinator does not respond in adequate time, please contact us at farmbag@localmotive.ca

Can I pay with Cash or Cheque?

The Farm Bag Fundraiser program can no longer accept cash or cheque payments. The administration and reporting required to manage this many groups and this number of customers simply makes cheques and cash impractical. The payment processor we use is very secure and allows you to either pay with credit card, or if you have a PayPal account linked to your bank account, you can pay with direct debit. Some groups are accepting these payments and are paying online on behalf of those clients - you should check with your Group's Coordinator to see if they are offering this option.

Do I have to pay for everything all at once?

The Farm Bag program is set up to make fundraising affordable and feasible for everyone, and as a result of administrative costs, we now only allow customers to pay for the whole subscription at one time. Customers who join the program later than the first month can sign up for the remaining 1 or 2 months of the program and pay for those months, either $40 or $80 depending on how many months are left in the program.

Can I customize the Farm Bag contents?

Unfortunately not. We can provide this program at this great price because we are giving everyone the same product. What you are receiving is a sample of local, seasonal vegetables and fruit. Each bag will have 7-10 different types. If you really can't use a certain item - perhaps you can trade with someone else at the pickup point?

Where does the produce come from?

We work with small-scale farmers in the South Okanagan and Similkameen Valleys. Our priorities are to make the bags as local and as organic as possible, while still providing a nice selection of different vegetables and fruit in each Farm Bag.

I would like my school or organization to run a Farm Bag Fundraiser. What do I do?

Firstly, you need to check that your group supports your interest. Then, get in touch with us using the 'Contact Us' tab at the top of this page. Depending on the time of year, we may be able to add your group to the existing season, or we can start discussions to get your group involved next year.
